Kari's passion for bodywork began in high school, sparked by her interest in the nervous system. After earning her bachelor's degree in psychology and neuroscience, she realized the significant effects of breathwork and bodywork, prompting her to enroll in a massage therapy program. In 2012, shortly after graduating, she had the opportunity to massage an expectant mother who shared her birth stories and experiences with doula care. This inspired Kari to pursue certification in birth doula support. Since then, she has dedicated her career to helping women, babies, and families feel secure and connected. She founded Bloomington Birth and Bodywork in the summer of 2017.

In 2024, Kari collaborated with a local college's massage therapy program, sharing her expertise with aspiring therapists while gaining insights into the latest advancements in the field. During this partnership, Joy became BBB's first intern, her passion for perinatal bodywork aligning perfectly with our mission. Joy's dedication and eagerness to learn makes her an invaluable team member. She has received hands-on training in techniques tailored to the needs of pregnant women, addressing common discomforts like back pain and stress. We are grateful for her contributions and confident in her future impact on perinatal bodywork.

We are excited to have recently welcomed Noemi as our newest massage therapy intern. With a focus on light-touch modalities, craniosacral therapy and infant bodywork, Noemi's passion for helping others complements our commitment to specialized care for women and families. Her skills and dedication will undoubtedly enhance our ability to provide comprehensive, holistic care to our clients.
